Nowhere to go—yet still not free

Three short poems about knowing where you're going

Hi friends. Happy New Year and thank you for being a part of The Circle Of Freethinkers!

The theme for my writing this month is: North Star.

Today’s short poems, collectively titled "Nowhere to go—yet still not free," illustrate my belief that without a clear vision or destination, it’s nearly impossible to live in the present moment and enjoy the journey of life.

My New Year’s wish for you is to have a clear North Star for this wonderful year ahead; not so you need to achieve it, but so you can live in the present moment and enjoy the ride while creating your dreams.

a wild wire
in the wall
where it leads
nowhere at all
sparks spray off
a slithering sight
no time to be
just frantic fright

a whirling kite
up in the sky
lost its tether
in a stormy sky
no time to feel
the freeing flight
in the frenzy of
the windy night

a battered boat
in a foggy sea
nowhere to go
yet still not free
drifts in circles
gets tossed about
and never seems
to make it out
