Oh no.

There it is again.

I’ve lost you.

You’re still here, but not.

You’re still you, but not.

You stare at it while I stare at you.

Longing, hoping, praying.

Will you notice me now?

How about now?

Maybe now?

Please put that thing down.

Can you put that thing down?

Just put it down.

Maybe you can’t.

Maybe it’s a part of you now.

Or you’re a part of it.

I can’t tell.

I don’t know.

But I do know that it steals you.

And I love you.

Does it love you too?

I hope so.

Because I really love you.

Look into my eyes and see.

Will you look?

Please look.

Please!

Please put that thing down and let’s play.

Rub my belly, toss me a ball, let’s go for a walk.

I won’t be here forever…

And neither will you.

But I’m here right now…

Are you?

1 Quote From Another

Spiritual teacher and author Eckhart Tolle on the wisdom of our four-legged friends:

“Millions of people who otherwise would be completely lost in their minds and in endless past and future concerns are taken back by their dog or cat into the present moment, again and again, and reminded of the joy of Being.”

1 Question For You

What is your favorite quality in dogs—and then ask yourself why?

If this resonated, pass it along to someone who might need it today. Let’s grow this circle!

*Did you know?? I wrote an entire poetry book inspired by my amazing pup, Rocky (Lela's big bro).

It's called "Dogs Get It: Advice I learned from my best friend". You can order physical copies here (it's a great gift and coffee table book), or just email me for the digital version—I'm happy to share the link!
